Full score of "When The Clouds Come Down", for violin, viola, and piano. Approx. 4 minutes.
Written for the Del Mar International Composers Symposium, When The Clouds Come
Down is an experiential work, transporting the listener to a mysterious evening stroll
through a hazy fog, punctuated only by glittering streetlights. Somewhere in the mist,
the far-off voice of a small child sobs and calls out for its father: papa, papa. As the
piece progresses, we discover that there is something magical to be found.
This piece draws stylistic inspiration from American classical music of the late 19th
century, such as Amy Beach’s Piano Trio Op. 150.
